Mr. Inamori emphasizes the importance of developing a habit of reflecting on one's actions and making improvements by recognizing one's own shortcomings.
In business and private life, many foreigners do not apologize even if they have made a mistake due to carelessness or lack of consideration because they do not see themselves at fault, often attributing it to circumstances beyond their control.
This often results in a lack of reflection. In Japan, the culture of apologizing and reflecting on one's actions has become prevalent, leading to relatively fewer conflicts and incidents in both business and private life.
I believe that acknowledging one's mistakes and reflecting on them is a virtue of Japanese people.
The essential things are to avoid making excuses and take full responsibility for one's actions.
By not making excuses, we can recognize our mistakes and reflect on them, leading to learning from failures.
Also, if we approach our work with a determination to take responsibility for any issues that arise, our attitude toward work becomes more proactive and careful.
I believe that under a leader with this kind of attitude, subordinates can work more freely, and the team can achieve good results.
