Today, I'll be discussing content more geared towards business owners, but it should be useful for those considering to start a side business or becoming independent with Web3.
I would appreciate it if you could stick around and share your thoughts and opinions with me on Twitter.
Kazuo Inamori (founder of Kyocera and KDDI, Honorary Chairman of JAL) said that people's hearts are easily swayed and changeable, but at the same time, there is nothing stronger than them. (Source: Kyocera Philosophy)
This statement carries a very deep meaning. As a restaurant owner myself, I have been disappointed by my employees' disloyalty and selfish behavior many times, but I have also been helped by them countless times.
Especially when I first started my business, I had no achievements, low wages, poor work processes, and hardly any customers.
It was a difficult and challenging situation, so the employee retention rate was very low.
At first, I tended to focus on where the employees were lacking and thought that improving there would benefit both the employees and the business, but it didn't seem to work out.
A few years later, when our company's performance began to improve and we needed more reliable employees, I decided to change the way I interacted with my employees to try to improve the high turnover rate.
Firstly, I stopped obsessing over small details and started thanking my employees for doing their job correctly, even if it was routine work.
I noticed that the operation was still functioning normally even though I reduced my instructions. In addition, the employee retention rate gradually increased.
I believe this is because reducing my instructions reduced the stress on both me and the employees, allowing them a little more discretion in their work.
Moreover, when my way of doing things and the employees' way of doing things differed, I let the employees do it their way, which led to improved efficiency.
More importantly, when employees felt trusted by the president and were more positive about their work, the work environment became better.
Since this experience, I have been listening to my employees and incorporating their opinions into my management as much as possible.
As a result, our staff has grown, the business has stabilized, and we have received favorable reviews from customers.
Employees are the most reliable asset, and it's crucial for managers to trust them and have the breadth of character to delegate work to them.
Nowadays, I firmly believe in this and keep it in mind.
